On November 5, 1950 Virgil was united in marriage to Lois Hattie Beck at The Little Brown Church in Nashua. Together they would be blessed with five children and 64 years of marriage.

Virgil worked in the lumber business for nearly 50 years and worked in the cities of Rockford, Rudd, Charles City and Mason City.

He enjoyed reading about their successes in the newspaper, and had a collection of news clippings. His loving heart and zest for life will be missed by all who knew him.

Virgil was a devoted husband. Before Lois passed away, she spent 4 1/2 years in the Nora Springs Care Center. Virgil visited her everyday. He also gained another family by developing bonds with employees in the Care Center that would last for the rest of his life. He considered them family.

The family of Virgil Eckenrod would like to thank all the staff at the Summit Assisted Living and Nora Springs Care center. The staff took care of Lois and Virgil as if they were their own parents, and Virgil referred to them as his family.
