ROCKFORD, IOWA - Evelyn Mae “Butch” Miller, 96, of Rockford, died Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am with a one hour prior visitation on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Fullerton Funeral Home, 302 West Main, Rockford. Pastor Dennis Burns from the First United Methodist Church in Rockford will be officiating. Burial will follow at the West Fork Cemetery in Dougherty, Iowa.
Evelyn was born on November 9, 1921, in Mason City, Iowa, to Annis and Carrie (Anderson) Nelson. She attended school in Sheffield, IA and graduated high school. Seven days after her 18th birthday, Evelyn was united in marriage to Elmer Miller in Charles City, Iowa. The couple farmed in Rockford for many years. Evelyn would argue that she only liked black cows and no red cows.
She was a faithful Christian and a member of the First United Methodist Church and volunteered with their church circles. Evelyn was a supporter of the Rockford Fossil and Prairie Center. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and some stubbornness at times.
Evelyn is survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Miller in 1975; parents, Annis and Carrie Nelson and brother, Glenn Nelson.
