Obituary for Dale R. Thake

Dale R. Thake, 66, of Charles City, Iowa, died Sunday morning January 14, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Oakhill Cemetery in Plymouth, Indiana.

Dale was born in Chicago the son of Arthur Edwin and June Charlotte Thake. He graduated from Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Illinois. He then graduated with a teaching degree from Indiana University. He taught in New Bedford High School in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He switched careers and worked for Fiber Leather for a short time. For the next 20 years he was the project manager for Ecological Fiber Paper Company in Pawtucket, RI.

His last job was the Manager of the Target store in Summerville, SC. Dale was united in marriage to Colleen Ruane on August 8, 2008 in Attleboro, MA. He enjoyed golf, camping and was an excellent conversationalist with family and friends. He also rooted for the Cubs baseball team and was a long time Patriot football fan from living along the East Coast. They have resided in Charles City the last four years.

Those who shared Dale’s life include his wife Colleen, Charles City, four sons Andrew, New Bedford MA; Benjamin, Providence, RI; Joshua, New York, NY; and Jacob at home in Charles City. Also is one granddaughter Hailey Thake, two sisters Diane (John) Schumacher, Donna (Mike) Gordon, two brothers Dave (Lisa) and Dan (Beth) Thake and sister-in-law Maureen “Cookie” Ruane and brother-in-law, Christopher Volkart.

His parents preceded him in death.
