Burial will take place at Sunnyside Memory Garden in rural Charles City

A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 17, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday

Delton Lane, 83, of Charles City, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home with Pastor Wendy Johannesen of West St. Charles Church and United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place at Sunnyside Memory Garden in rural Charles City.

A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 17, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Delton Dale Lane, the son of Ivan Lane and Henrietta (Rademacher) Lane was born April 3, 1934 in Charles City, Iowa. He attended schools in Charles City and graduated from Charles City High School in 1952. Delton was in the army active duty in January 1953 to January 1956, he was a reserve officer January 1956 to March 1967 and he was in the National Guard May 1972 to July 1978. In June of 1960, Delton married Sharon Teepe in Orchard, Iowa. Delton worked for Sar Hybrids (Fontanelle) until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and West St. Charles Church.

Delton liked to go bowling, read western books, raise cattle and do crossword puzzles. He liked to play card games and playing games on the iPad, especially solitaire.

Living family members include his wife, Sharon; children: Julie (Brent) Parker, Mike (Joanne) Lane, and Chris (Emily) Lane; grandchildren: Trent (Brittany) Parker, Renae Parker, Debra Lane, Hannah Lane, Tanner Lane, Mason Lane, and Koryn Lane; great-grandchildren: Genevieve and Summer Parker; siblings: Janet "Jan" Lane, Claire (Lucille) Lane, Ivadelle Stevenson, Betty Rex, Warren "Johnny" Lane, Linda (Allen) Steffler, Virginia "Ginny" (Ron) Kniesel; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Allen Lane; one child in infancy; brother, Guy Lane; brothers-in-law: Jim Messerlie, Jerry Stevenson and Russell Kniesel; and sister-in-law Judy Lane.
