Birth: March 21, 1939
Death: December 4, 2017Carole Hauser Allen, 78, of Charles City, died Monday, December 4, at Floyd County Medical Center.
According to her wishes, Carole will be cremated. A celebration of life will take place January 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Hauser Funeral Home followed by a short gathering of family and friends.
Carole leaves behind many loved ones, including her daughter Kristi (Steve) Booth of Laporte, Minnesota; son Bob (Kelley) Allen of Sheridan, Wyoming; and son, Scot Allen of Des Moines; brother, Kip (Judy) Hauser of Charles City; and grandchildren Erin, Jackson, Kamrin, Kayla, Emma and Olivia.
Carole was preceded in death by Tom, her husband and best friend of 53 years.
Born in Charles City, the daughter of Carl and Alice Hauser, Carole attended Central Elementary School and Charles City Junior-Senior High School where she sang alto in the choir. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1961 with a degree in special education and moved to Long Beach, California, where she taught elementary school and met Tom.
Carole and Tom lived and raised their children in Long Beach for the first 13 years of their marriage before moving to Sheridan, Wyoming, where Carole was a substitute teacher for 11 years.
Carole and Tom moved back to Charles City in 1988 and worked in the family business, the Hauser Funeral Home, as pre-need officers and counselors. Carole was a 60-year member of the PEO Sisterhood (Chapter JQ), the Charles City Library Board, she was a Foster Grandparent Advisory Board member and Salvation Army bell ringer. She was a life-long Golden Gopher fan, much to the dismay of her son Scot and her brother Kip.
Carole was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and Christian. She loved to read and she loved to travel to see her children and grandchildren. She cherished family gatherings and making everything perfect for any holiday. Carole will always be remembered for her warm personality, her positive outlook and the love she had for her family as well as her delicious party mashed potatoes, fancy Texas sheet cake and towering maco tacos.
Memorial donations may be made to Iowa/National Kidney Foundation in Des Moines.
