William (Bill) Chester Boyd was born April 4th, 1939 at the Franklin County Lutheran Hospital in Hampton Iowa. He was carried to Heaven July 15th, 2017 surrounded by his wife, Jeanette, and their 4 sons, William (Joe), Tyler, Jason and Mark. Bill lived a faithful life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Bill spent his childhood on the family farm outside of Aredale, IA working and going to school. He graduated high school in 1957 and afterwards moved to Marshalltown to work at Lennox Industries.

He later joined the United States Navy in 1960 and served this great nation until 1963 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger (CVA-61), homeported in San Francisco, CA. From there, he transitioned from active duty to reserve duty in Des Moines, IA until 1966. Bill continued serving his fellow veterans through the American Legion. Bill also served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in Floyd County, IA.

Bill married his high school sweetheart, Jeanette Henning, August 15th, 1962 in Allison Iowa and they finished his naval career together in San Francisco, CA before moving back to Marshalltown IA. They had their first son, William Joseph and soon after they moved to Greene, IA. They had their second son, Tyler, before buying their current home in Marble Rock where they would have their last two sons, Jason and Mark. They were happily married for nearly 55 years come this August. They loved one another with a deep, selfless, Christ like love which has been a strong, Godly example for all of us to desire, follow, and carry out in our own lives and relationships.

He began working at White Motor Corporation in 1964 and continued until they moved the plant from Charles City, Iowa, to Coldwater, Ohio, in 1993. He worked several other jobs until he retired in 2004. He spent his remaining years enjoying his shop at their home in Marble Rock, Iowa.

Bill was always a believer in Jesus Christ and became born again in 1990 at New Life Tabernacle in Mason City, Iowa, where he was filled with the Holy Spirit on October 21st, 1990. His life would never look the same as he began this new journey with Jesus Christ. His wisdom increased and a deeper understanding of the Bible became a life focus. Later, his son, Jason would become his pastor at Faith Bible Chapel in Charles City, IA. Bill served the Lord in many capacities and provided a tremendous example for his entire family.

Bill and Jeanette were blessed to have 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild in which he not only loved, but also inspired with a Godly example. Because of his walk, his Christian character will carry on through many generations.

Bill is survived by his spouse, Jeanette (Henning) Boyd; two sisters, Camelia Mowry of Marshalltown; Sharon Muhlstein of Mason City; His four sons, William J. (Rhonda) Boyd of Toledo IA, Tyler (Suzanne) Boyd of Weatherford TX, Pastor Jason (Laura) Boyd of Charles City IA, Pastor Mark (Victoria) Boyd of Onalaska WI and 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
