Raymond Nash

January 23, 1934 - December 29, 2016

Raymond Eugene Nash was born January 23, 1934 in Toledo, Iowa to Raymond and Elna (Eberhart) Nash. He was a graduate of Charles City High School. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy. Raymond was united in marriage with Beverly Moon on December 6, 1953 in Charles City.

Ray was a teacher and counselor for Des Moines Public Schools for more than 30 years. He was extremely active with Special Olympics, and enjoyed wintering in Arizona.

Life was never dull with Ray around. He liked fast cars, fishing, and visiting the casino.

Ray is survived by his sons, Raymond “Nick” and Mark of Clear Lake; cousin, Glenda “Bunny” (Bob) Day; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Beverly.

A graveside service for Ray will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Opportunity Village in Clear Lake or Special Olympics.
