MASON CITY, IOWA - Glen Robert Wyborny, 90, of Rudd, Iowa, died peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Hospice of North Iowa.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday (April 26, 2017) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, with Rev. Ed Bard officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd, Iowa. Military honors will be conducted by the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday (April 25, 2017) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel in Mason City.

Glen was born March 6, 1927, the son of Kenneth and Dorothy Wyborny in Mason City. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1945. At the age of 15, Glen started working at the Jones Machine Shop. After high school, Glen was drafted into the Army Air Force in fall of 1945, returning home in 1947.

Glen met the love of his life, Doris Moorehead, at the Bayside Roller Rink in Clear Lake. They married on June 4, 1948, and moved north of Rudd to farm. He farmed all his life through the fall of 2016. During his younger farming years, he also hauled milk for the Nora Springs Creamery and worked the night shift at the Oliver Corporation in Charles City. Glen and Doris owned and operated Wyborny Concrete Company from 1968 through 2002.

Glen was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 733 of Mason City. There were many, many years of dancing enjoyed by Glen and Doris at the VFW and other favorite dance halls. Family fishing trips to Clear Lake with his father as a young man along with trips to northern Minnesota the past 40 years with his wife, children and grandchildren. The last trip was in August 2015.

Glen was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passing on to his family his strong work ethic, teaching them to always do it right the first time.

Glen is survived by his wife of 68 years, children Charlotte (Gary) Johnson of Mason City, Roni Wyborny of Clear Lake, Michael (Shelley) Wyborny of Rudd, Iowa. Grandchldren Daniel (Rhonda) Neal of Rudd, Stacy (Dan) Rooney of Rudd, Shane McRoberts of Rudd, Nathan (Jackie) McRoberts of Osage, Lance (Dakota) McRoberts of Rockford, Matthew (Lindzie) Wyborny of Mason City, Sadie (Jace) Wyborny of Rockwell, Adam Wyborny of Rockford, Steven (Mikayla) Wyborny of Osage, Jenny (Cale) Lang of Clear Lake, Garrett (Celeste) Johnson of Henderson, NV and 14 ¾ great-grandchildren, sister Jean (Ronald) Navratil of Washington, IA, his Aunt Marguerite Nelson of Clarks Grove, MN.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Janice, infant son Kurt, daughter Cindy Schriever in 2007, daughter-in-law Kerrie Wyborny in 2009, great-grandson Brandon Neal and sister Marlys Larson.
