NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Mary Elaine Grauerholz, 59, of Nora Springs, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2017, at home, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at First Christian Church, 318 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. David Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Grove Cemetery.

Mary was born on July 16, 1957, in Nora Springs, Iowa, to Marshall and Mabel (Robertson) McManus. She was the last born in a family of nine children, which included two brothers, and six sisters. She graduated from Nora Springs-Rock Falls High School in 1975. On October 25 of that same year, she married Dennis Grauerholz. To this marriage, two children were born, Daniel and Sarah.

Mary worked for the ABCM Corp. for 37 years, first as a certified nursing aid at the Nora Springs Care Center and then as the manager of Summit Heights Assisted Living when it opened in 1999.

Mary enjoyed crocheting afghans, camping, fishing, and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Her life was an example of the Bible verse Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
