Joseph "Joe" "Gravy" Davis, 51, of Charles City, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at his home with his family by his side.

A graveside service for Joe Davis will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at East Lawn Memory Garden Cemetery in Eldora, Iowa with Pastor Janet Dorenkamp, Chaplain with Hospice of North Iowa, officiating.

Joseph Dean Davis, the son of George Davis and Sharon (Dybal) McBride, was born April 28, 1965 in Eldora, Iowa. He graduated from Eldora High School in 1983 and moved out to California. Joe lived in the Sacramento and Oceanside areas working mainly as a cook in restaurants before moving back to Iowa in 2002 and settling down in Charles City.

Joe enjoyed watching sports (especially the Iowa Hawkeyes), listening to music and playing guitar. He also loved spending time with his family, especially playing video games with his nephew, Tristen.

Living family members include his father and step-mother, George and Vicki Davis of Charles City; three sisters: Liz (Terry) Barnes of State Center, Debbie (Glen) Howard of Henderson, Nevada and Chasity (Joe) Cook of Charles City; brother, Michael Davis of Sumter, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Kelly Davis-Morland; five nieces; six nephews; one great-niece; three great-nephews; along with several cousins, other family members and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon McBride in 2016; brother, Jeff Davis in 2013; both sets of grandparents; and his step-father, John McBride in 2010.
