CHARLES CITY — Lolita Jean Handt, known to her family and friends as Lolly, went to be with her Lord on February 13, 2017.

A funeral service celebrating Lolly’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Cross Evangelical Lutheran at 312 First Ave. in Charles City with the Rev. Daniel Larson officiating.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Friends may greet the family from 4-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home at 401 Blunt St., Charles City.

Lolita was born January 3, 1925, in Lake Park, Iowa. She graduated from Nora Springs High School. On August 23, she and Everett (Dick) Handt were united in marriage at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Osage, Iowa. They were married 62 years and were blessed with three daughters, Eileene, Linda, and Diann.

Lolly worked at Sar Hybrids several years before spending 30 years working at Salsbury Laboratories/Solvay in the shipping and receiving department.

She was a charter member of Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was an active member for 70 years. Lolly truly lived the life of a Christian woman.

Lolly and Dick loved vacationing and enjoyed visiting various places throughout the United States. They made many trips to southern California to visit family.

She always kept busy doing things. In past years she made beautiful quilts. She enjoyed doing things for others and especially liked keeping in touch with many through her special email machine.

Lolly loved having her family and friends visit and truly enjoyed sharing her homemade cookies, cakes, and pies. She always made holidays very special for her family and treasured each one deeply. Lolly was a special lady who will be missed by all who knew her.

Left behind to cherish to her memory are her three daughters, Eileene (Larry) Katcher of Cedar Falls, IA, Linda (Mike) Willert of Nashua, IA, and Diann (Steve) Lindeman of Maplewood, MN.; and grandchildren, James (Phyllis) Katcher, Joel Katcher, Michelle (Tony) Brunt and Libbie (Jesse Woltz) Willert; and great-grandchildren, Jackie (Collin) Howe, Sarah Katcher, Matthew Katcher, and Peter Brunt.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband in 2004, her parents, and her brother Bruce Clifford.
