Alice Stewart, 89, of Charles City, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral service for Alice Stewart will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd with Pastor Wendy Johannesen officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd.

Alice Jean (Anderson) Stewart was born May 8, 1927, the daughter of Clarke and Verta (Elliott) Anderson. She graduated from Floyd High School.

On April 15, 1945, she was united in marriage to Lee Stewart at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. They farmed for 40 years near Floyd on the Anderson Century farm. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday school and held various offices. Alice enjoyed playing cards with the 500 Card Club, reading and quilting. Alice loved all her family and enjoyed attending family events and keeping in touch with them.

Living family members include three children: Dan (Terry) Stewart of Hampton, Connie (Al) Mace of Prior Lake, Minnesota and Carolyn (Jon) Ford of Mesa, Arizona; son-in-law, Lyle Slagle of Grimes; nine grandchildren: Jon (Barbara) Ford, Sara (Erik) Rasmussen, Christine (Jason) Watson, Jamie Ford, Jason Slagle, Andrew (Sara) Slagle, Blake Stewart, Bryon (Jody) Mace and Jeff (Heidi) Mace; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Leah Platt of Boise, Idaho; sister-in-law, Fae (Richard) Laird of Webster City; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cynthia Slagle; husband, Lee; brother, Roger Anderson; and sister, Jane Dight.
