MARBLE ROCK — JoAnn Harriet Shreve, 74, of Marble Rock, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at Mercy Health Center-North Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Retz Funeral Home in Greene with Pastor Janet Dorenkamp officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family at P.O. Box 123, Greene, Iowa 50636.

OBITUARY--

JoAnn Shreve - Marble Rock

Funeral services for JoAnn Harriet Shreve, 74, of Marble Rock will be 10:30 a.m., January 4, 2017, at Retz Funeral Home, 519 N. First St. in Greene with Pastor Janet Dorenkamp officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral Home.

JoAnn was born at home in Allison, Butler County, Iowa, on November 14, 1942, to John Edwin and Ruth JoAnn (Barth) Heyenga and passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016, at the North Iowa Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

JoAnn attended public schools in the Greene School District. As a young woman she worked for several cafes in the area as a waitress.

JoAnn was united in marriage to Darwin Shreve on June 6, 1961. This union was blessed with four children. Raising her family became her mission in life. When the children were all in school she rejoined the work force working for Allstates Quality Foods in Charles City. She remained there for the next 20 years.

She enjoyed going on camping and fishing trips with her family. She especially enjoyed cooking and having all her family over for big family dinners. She liked country music and collecting anything with a chicken decoration. JoAnn fed and watched hummingbirds and played the slots from time to time. When her husband became ill she was the primary care provider for him until his death a year ago.

JoAnn is survived by four children: Darwin D. Shreve, North Pole, AK; Danny (Denise) Shreve, Greene; Debbie (Ricardo) Wells, Charles City; David (Suzy) Shreve, West Union; eleven grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Darwin; her parents; one sister, Janet Bullock.
