Theodore Richard Hubert, Sr., the son of William and Hulda (Kindt) Hubert, was born April 20, 1930 in Wilton, Wisconsin. He moved with his family at a young age to Tomah, Wisconsin where he was raised and attended school. Ted graduated from Tomah High School in 1947 and began working on the railroad for a few years before joining the Army. He proudly served his country in Korea as an office manager to some of the Army secretaries.

After being honorably discharged, Ted was united in marriage to Audrey Dickenson on July 23, 1954, in Sparta, Wisconsin. This union was blessed with five children and they made their home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ted worked as an Under Construction Mechanic for semi-trucks at Badger Trailer in Milwaukee, and he continued working there even after the family moved to Iowa in 1974 until his retirement at the age of 60.

Ted was a member of New Life Community Church in Charles City. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Milwaukee, the Moose Lodge in Charles City and Heritage Club through First Citizens National Bank. Ted enjoyed gardening, tinkering around with things and inventing items of need and playing guitar. He played guitar in a polka band while in Wisconsin and then at church when the family moved to Iowa until his health would not allow him to share his beautiful musical talent.

Living family members include his four children: Rhonda Paul of Colwell, Gail Hubert of Colwell, Theodore Hubert Jr. (Jody) of Mitchellville and Tracey (Joel) Brueseke of Waterloo; six grandchildren: Amber Barr, Nicholas (Katie) Trask, Landon Nelson, Chelsea (Nate) Johnson, Jared Brueseke and Noelle Brueseke; six great-grandchildren: Austin Barr, Tanner Barr, Trennedy Barr, Trystan Barr, Macheala Trask and Kylie Trask; sister, June Welch of Tomah, Wisconsin; two brothers: Fran Hubert of Tomah, Wisconsin and Bill (Elaine) Hubert of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey on June 29, 2015; daughter, Denise Hubert; sister, Joyce O'Connor; and three brothers: Tim Hubert, Don Hubert and Dick Hubert.
