CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Laura L. Lonergan, 83, of Charles City, died Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Floyd County Medical Center.
A prayer service for friends and family will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, November 4, at Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, with Pastor Bill Odermann from St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will follow from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

Laura L. Lonergan, 83, of Charles City, passed away on October 29, 2016 at Floyd County Medical Center.
A prayer service for friends and family will be held at 4:00 on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Hauser Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Odermann from Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will follow from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Laura Lottie (Young) Lonergan was born on November 20, 1932, in Skowhegan, Maine; the daughter of Lauriston I. and Dessie M. (O'Neal) Young. She went to various grade schools in Maine and attended Good Will-Hinckley High School in Hinckley, Maine. She married Anson C. Wing, Jr. in 1954. They moved to Chicago and later divorced. She married Dale A. Lonergan; they lived in Illinois, Texas and Wisconsin before moving to Charles City, Iowa in 2007. Dale passed away in 2010.
Laura was employed by Bell & Howell Co. in Chicago for eleven years, working in the printing department. Later she went to work for Artype Inc. in Crystal Lake, Illinois as a bookkeeper and inventory clerk.
She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and a past member of a sports car club and CB radio club in Illinois. Laura enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, TV sports and cooking programs. She loved the many hours spent fishing and ice fishing with Dale.
Living family members include two sisters: Fay MacFarland of Zephyrhills, Florida and Lois Loucks of Sierra Vista, Arizona; step-daughter: Shirley (Ed) Platte of Charles City, Iowa and their children: Aaron and Abby Platte; step-daughter: Rebecca (Leon) Anderson of Genoa City, Wisconsin and her children: Rachel and Joshua Deletzke; sisters-in-law: Grace Lonergan of Dexter, Minnesota and Catherine Estergren of Apple Valley, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale; her parents; and a half-sister Roberta Atwood.
