Viola Mae Laffler
CHARLES CITY — Viola Mae Laffler, 91, of Charles City, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital.
Her body will be cremated and a private family scattering will take place at a later date.
Arrangements are with Fullerton Hage Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Charles City.

Viola Mae Laffler, 91, of Charles City, Iowa, died Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Per her wishes she will be cremated and a private family scattering will take place at a later date.
Viola was born on July 11, 1925, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Earl and Anna (Trout) Kline. She was raised in Shenandoah until age 12, her family then moved to Charles City, where Viola attended school and graduated high school. Viola went on to electronic school in Omaha, NE. In 1945 she moved to Kansas City, MO, and began working for the Social Security Administration Payment Center as a CCRE. She held her position for 18 years until retirement in 1987. At one time she also worked for the Army Signal Corps as a Telephone Supervisor. Viola met her husband Albert Laffler after moving to Missouri and the couple was married on July 5, 1967. Together they had six boys and a lot of love. After Albert passed away in 1985, Viola decided to move back to Charles City and resided with her son and caretaker, Wayne.
In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, sewing and crafts. Viola collected hundreds of koala keepsakes and then started collecting lighthouses. She enjoyed traveling in her younger years and doing puzzle books in her later years. Viola was a member of the Knights of Pythias.
Those left to cherish her memory include five sons: Robert (Pamela) Laffler of Kansas City, KS, Ricky Laffler of Claycomo, MO, Wayne Laffler of Charles City, Kevin Laffler of Kansas City, MO and Shawn (Angela) Laffler of Kansas City, MO; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Vincent Laffler; son, Albert Wilson Laffler; parents, Earl and Anna Kline; and two daughters-in-law, Sheri Laffler and Myoung Laffler.
