Barb “Barbie” was born May 9, 1960 in Estherville, Iowa the daughter of Carroll S. and Barbara (Moseley) Bogard. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1978. Barb married Sam Booth Jr. on April 14, 1984. Following Sam’s death in 1989, Barb attended a “Stepping Forward” support group where she would meet Richard Weiner.

Dick and Barb were married September 14, 1990 at Holy Name Catholic Church, Rockford. Dick, who had three children, Dustin, Bobby and Kelli Jo with his late spouse and Barb, who had one child, Sammy with hers, began their life together. They would later have one son together, Charlie (a.k.a. the Golden Child).

Barb quickly stepped up to the challenge of raising five children at home, where she excelled at being the mother that everyone needed. With all of the kids grown up, and only Charlie still in school, she went to work for the Central Springs School District, as a “Lunch Lady.” Barb and Dick loved traveling especially to Las Vegas, New Orleans, The Black Hills, and numerous trips to Mexico. Some of the most memorable were her travels just this past year to Mexico with family and a trip with her father, siblings, and other family members to The Black Hills. The spreading of her mother’s ashes in memorable locations in The Black Hills was a major step in the grieving process after the loss of her mother this past year. In 2011, they purchased a home overlooking the Mississippi River in Clayton, Iowa. Barb and Dick found their new passion of boating, entertaining family and friends, and enjoying the peacefulness of the river.

Some of her special interests included cooking, sewing, flower gardening, shopping and of course spending time with her 11 grandchildren. Barb also had a love for animals especially her black labs throughout the years; Shappa, Rambo and Angel and of course her cat, Mabel. Barb and Dick were active members at Holy Name Catholic Church where Barb was a CCD teacher for many years. It must be noted that she was a very giving person; both in her wonderful taste in gift giving and in her love to others.

Barb is survived by her husband, Richard of Nora Springs, five children and eleven grandchildren; Samuel V. Booth III of Mason City and his children, Aleesia McWilliams-Booth and ZaMora Briner; Dustin (Andrea) Weiner of Ankeny and their children, Claire, Harper and Wyatt; Bobby (Katie) Weiner of Mason City and their children, Robert Jr., Oliver, William and Frederick; Kelli Jo (Jake) Heimer of Nora Springs and their children, Thad and Karli; Charlie Weiner of Ames and girlfriend, Schyler Sundvold; Barb’s father, Carroll S. Bogard of Mason City; brother, Jeff (Susie) Bogard of Golden, Colorado; sister, Liz Bogard Ivonavitch (Jim) of Mason City; many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Barb was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel V. Booth Jr. and her mother, Barbara Jane Bogard.
