ROCKFORD — Donald Koehler, 95, of Rockford, died Sunday, August 14, 2016, at the Nora Springs Care Center.

A funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City with Pastor Wendy Johannesen from West St. Charles United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in the West St. Charles Cemetery.

Visitation is at Hauser Funeral Home 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City is in charge of local arrangements.

Donald Koehler, 95, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

A funeral service for Don Koehler will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City with Pastor Wendy Johannesen from West St. Charles United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at the West St. Charles Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

Visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Donald Chesley Koehler, the son of Edward and Emma (Heitz) Koehler, was born May 3, 1921 on the family farm in rural Rockford. He grew up attending country school and helping on the family farm.

Don was united in marriage to Elizabeth Druschel on November 27, 1949 at the Rockford United Methodist Church. The couple made their home on the Koehler family farm where they raised their family and continued farming the land.

Don was a member of West St. Charles United Methodist Church. He was also on the Farmers Co-op Board of Directors for a while, but his main extracurricular activity was farming.

Living family members include his wife of 66 years, Liz; daughter, Linda (Joel) Miller of Rudd; two grandsons: Joshua Miller of Rudd and Jacob Miller of Las Cruces, New Mexico; sister-in-law, Myra Koehler; brother-in-law, George Trettin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many close neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William "Bill" Koehler in 2013; three sisters: Mildred (Don) Kruse, Arlene Trettin and Wilma (Ozzie) Damgaard; and by two brothers: Lloyd (Ruth) Koehler and Dale Koehler.
