Obituary for Robert D. Chuick

Robert Duane Chuick age 71 of Charles City, IA died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

No services will be held per Robert’s request. Interment will be held at a later date.

Robert Chuick was born November 23, 1944, the son of Dan and Ivanelle “Nell” (Lewis) Chuick. He attended Mason City schools all the way until his graduation from Mason City High School in 1963.

He started working for John Deere in Waterloo in 1965. Robert first started out working in the foundry before working his way up to supervisor. When he retired in 1999 he was the superintendant. He took a lot of pride in his 34 years working at John Deere.

On February 17, 2002 he met Polly Knapp at the Wagon Wheel in Nashua. The couple was married on December 27, 2004, at the Floyd County House in Charles City.

Robert enjoyed fast cars, shooting his guns, fishing and everything John Deere. He especially liked John Deere lawn mowers. You could often catch him talking about racing, either NASCAR or stock car races. Coffee with his Nashua buddies at the Town House was always one of Robert’s favorite activities.

Robert is survived by his wife, Polly of Charles City, Iowa; three children, Denise (Marcus) Doss of The Woodlands, Texas, Christopher (Allison) Chuick of Eagan, Minnesota, Linsey (Jeremy) High of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two step-children Ben (Karen) Damjanovic of Charles City, Iowa, Mariah (Jesse Sharon) Damjanovic of Marble Rock, Iowa; three granddaughters, Grace Chuick, Natalie High, Teagan High; one brother, Rich (Jan) Chuick of Austin, Minnesota; his beloved dog, Otis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Nell.
