Bruce Michael Stewart, the son of Wilbur and Dorothy (Gabel) Stewart, was born October 17, 1951, in Charles City, Iowa. He attended school in Floyd and Charles City, graduating from Charles City High School in 1970. After graduating, Bruce worked in construction for a few years in Charles City and throughout Iowa. He also worked at White Farm, Chuck's Sale Yard and Smithfield Foods (formerly Armour and ConAgra) in Mason City.

Bruce was united in marriage to Susan Sargent on July 20, 1974. The couple made their home in Floyd and the union was blessed with two children, Victoria and Jeremy. They later divorced.

Bruce was a Volunteer Fire Fighter with the Floyd Fire Department for over 25 years. He enjoyed canning, making pickles, going to coffee with his friends in the morning and traveling back and forth to the apple orchard at Gays Mills, Wisconsin, on the river. Bruce loved to travel in general, usually just getting in his car going wherever he could. He would always get kids he interacted with to warm up to him, even if it took a little extra effort. Bruce loved time with his family (even when he would show up unannounced and want to chat), but he especially loved the times spent with his children and grandchildren.

Living family members include his daughter, Victoria Lantz of Charles City; son, Jeremy (Natasha) Stewart of Charles City; six grandchildren: Katlyn (Matthew) Heffron, Mackenzie Teeter, Cole Lantz, Noah Lantz, Jonathan Stewart and Leah Stewart; father, Wilbur Stewart of Charles City; three brothers: Roger (Wyona) Stewart of Floyd, Richard (Barb) Stewart of Floyd and Dennis (Nancy) Stewart of Hampton; three sisters: Barb (Greg) Easterly of Charles City, Mary (Ron) Michael of Floyd and Diane Stewart (Bob Roepke) of Hazelton; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other family members and numerous friends who loved Bruce dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Stewart, on July 14, 2013 and both sets of grandparents: Mervyn and Bess Stewart and Irvin and Mary Gabel.
