Judie "JP" Pieper, 73, of Valencia, CA, formerly of Charles City, passed away at 4:44 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral service for Judie Pieper will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City with Pastor Debra Lincoln officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016 and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service Friday at the funeral home.

Judie Karen Moore Pieper was born May 26, 1942 in Lincoln Nebraska, the daughter of Lyle and Esther (Raikowski) Moore. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1960 and from Hamilton Business College in Mason City. In August of 1961, she married Robert "Bob" Pieper. They later divorced.

For several years she was an Administrative Secretary at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company. After moving to California she worked for 20 years at the Newhall Signal and then for 10 years at the Los Angeles Times where she retired. Judie enjoyed wildlife, especially black bears and volunteered for Shambala Preserve which was owned by Tippi Hedren and is dedicated to the preservation of lions, tigers and elephants. Her other interests included sports cars, dancing, football, flower gardening, and bird watching. Judie was an avid cat lover as well.

Living family members include four children, Jodie Pieper and Diana (Philip) Smith both of Charles City, and Michael Pieper and Joseph Pieper both of Valencia, California; 10 grandchildren, Miles, Ashlie and Joshua Madden, Nicole and Jennifer Pastre, Christopher Bernd and Scotty, Caitlin, Evan and Megan Pieper; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
