Dorothy Chambers, 98, of Charles City, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Cedar Health in Charles City.

A funeral service for Dorothy Chambers will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City with Pastor Debra Lincoln from Colwell United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Dorothy May (Wilson) Chambers, the daughter of Harvey and Agnes (Jermier) Wilson, was born May 6, 1917 in Chickasaw County, Iowa. She received her education in rural schools and at the Colwell High School. Dorothy was united in marriage to Forest Chambers on October 31, 1935 in Charles City. The couple farmed north of Charles City for several years before moving to Floyd and finally settling in Charles City. Dorothy was a member of the Colwell United Church of Christ and the Floyd Lioness Club. Dorothy was just an overall good mom and grandma.

Living family members include her daughter, Mary Jean Zilm of Charles City; granddaughter, Jana Zilm of Palm City, Florida; grandson, Doug Zilm (Cherie Friesth) of North Hollywood, California; great-grandson, Hunter Zilm; along with nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Forest on March 11, 2006; great-granddaughter, Bailey Zilm; three sisters: Rose Mary Edson, Marie Chambers and Georgie Hicok; and brother, Eugene Wilson.
