NORA SPRINGS, IOWA — Orrin "Dean" Walker, 86, of Nora Springs, died Thursday, February 25, 2016, at the Muse-Norris Inpatient Unit-Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel in Nora Springs. Inurnment will follow in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Dean Walker Memorial Fund.

Orrin Dean Walker was born July 19, 1929, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Claire and Florence (Prehn) Walker. He attended country school, District 75, Mower County, Minnesota. After his schooling, Dean enlisted in the United States Army, where he honorably served our country.

He was united in marriage to Betty Noah on April 1, 1950, in Nora Springs, and to this union three children were born. He later married Marjorie Shindelar on December 18, 1975, in Nashua.

Dean was a member of the United Methodist Church, the American Legion in Nora Springs, and the Moose Lodge in Charles City. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, having coffee with friends, and especially spending time with his family.

Dean is survived by three children, Pam (Steven Kapping) Walker of Osage, Donald (Corinne) Walker of Nora Springs, and Thomas Walker of Marble Rock; eleven grandchidlren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother Darrel (Wanda) Walker of Nora Springs; a brother-in-law, Jim Elsbury of Nora Springs; a son-in-law, Jim Wilmoth of Palestine, Texas; nine stepchildren; many step-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Florence Walker; wife, Marjorie Walker; a daughter Janice Wilmoth; and a sister, Kay Elsbury.
