Barbara "Barb" E. Lensing, 78, of Charles City, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, at home.

A funeral service for Barb Lensing will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Paul Phillips from Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Barbara Ellen (Ward) Lensing, the daughter of Delbert and Mildred (Parker) Ward, was born May 19, 1937 in Charles City. She attended country school and the Charles City Community Schools, graduating from Charles City High School. Barb was united in marriage to James Lensing on February 26, 1955 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. The couple made their home in Charles City where they raised their family. Barb was a homemaker who took wonderful care of her children and she also was an interior decorator doing painting and wallpapering for several years.

Barb was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd. She was involved with the Musicians Union, Women's Bowling Association for 12 years and was a volunteer with Heart to Home Hospice. Barb also played guitar with two bands, Melody Makers and Country Blue Boys. She enjoyed camping and having camping jam sessions. Barb loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Living family members include her three children: Michelle (Steve) Houghton of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Doug (Leslie) Lensing of Charles City and Kim (Doug) McInroy of Charles City; 11 grandchildren: Trisha (Jeff) Gurnsey, Chris (Heather) Hewitt, Mandy Miron, Lee Miron, Jerry (Denise) Lensing, Stacy (Brad) Kellogg, Mindy Lensing (Eric Prior), James Lensing, Ryan (Tia) McInroy, Jenny McInroy and Katie McInroy; three step-grandchildren: Justin Houghton, Tessa Weber and Jessi Hanson; 21 great-grandchildren: Jaycie, Jordan, Josie, Alex, Keaton, Owen, Michael, Madison, Pierce, Payton, Ethan, Autumn, Nick, Owen, Talan, Cooper, Harper, Holden, Nathaniel, Scarlett and Jackson; one great-great-granddaughter, Avery; sister, Tootie (Clarence) Holt of Charles City; brother, Skip (Myrna) Ward of Charles City; sister-in-law, Esther Rolph of Charles City; special friend, Dale Bunston of Charles City; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim in 1999; sister, Louise Cagley; and three brothers: Jack Rolph, Arnold Rolph and Stub Ward.
