Obituary for Glenda Lea Zimmer
Glenda L. Zimmer, 75, formerly of 1474 Walnut Ave, Colwell, Iowa, died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the 9th ST. Chautauqua Guest Home.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, December 23rd, 2015 at the Colwell United Church of Christ, 1403 Colwell Ave, Colwell, Iowa. Officiating will be Rev. Debra Lincoln. The family will greet friend prior to the services and invite those attending to a time of fellowship following. Those planning a memorial contribution may make them to the family.

Glenda was born in Colwell, Iowa on December 13, 1940 the daughter of Harold and Verna Emily (Haight) Zimmer. She attended school at Colwell Consolidated School and later earned her graduation certificate through the GED program. Glenda attended the United Church of Christ in Colwell her entire life. She sang in the choir and was very musically talented and could play almost all musical instruments. She loved taking photographs of area buildings, flowers and things of nature. She also collected various items including baseball cards, butterflies and rocks.

She was often wearing purple clothing in support of her favorite football team the Vikings. She also enjoyed the twins and going to the games. She was everyone’s “Pal” and was very loving towards others. Glenda was a voracious reader of all types of literature, and Johnny Cash was her favorite country western artist. She traveled several times to Florida to stay with her niece. She was a member of the ladies of the Moose in Charles City.

Those surviving her include her sister Sharon Reetz, Charles City, three nieces Laureen (Patrick) Byrne, Clear Lake; Lynnette (Charles) Mackey, Charles City; Liz (Chad) Perkins, Alta Vista; one nephew Barry Mackey, Clarksville and several grand nieces and nephews

Her parents, one brother Michael Zimmer and one nephew Tom Conway preceded her in death.
