Allen “Allie” Davidson was born on February 12, 1933, the son of Alfred Davidson and Nora (Skogen) Davidson at Rake, Iowa. He moved to Charles City as a child and never left. Allen graduated from Charles City High School in 1952. He was an outstanding athlete, earning himself the title of “Golden Toe” as one of the best kickers in the state, and also earned all-state honors in two positions in football. The 1951 football team was undefeated. He was also excellent in track.

Allen was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged, he attended masonry school and worked for area construction firms before starting his White Farm Equipment career which spanned 30 years. Allen was united in marriage to Sharon Smith on April 26, 1958, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. They were blessed with five children.

Allen was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus.

Throughout his entire life he continued his masonry and carpentry skills. He was a skilled craftsman – building homes and doing specialized restoration work. Allen loved making things, from paper airplanes to complex finish carpentry. He had a quick wit and sense of humor and was very proud of his Norwegian heritage. However, his proudest creations were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His family and the wife he loved meant everything to him. Allie loved barbeques, camping and antiquing. The Labor Day Reunion picnics, which he helped organize, will always be fondly remembered.
