HUSBAND WAS 90 AND WIFE WAS 79 AT TIME OF DEATHMarble Rock – Mr. and Mrs. William Thieman who recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary both died Saturday morning within four hours of each other. Mrs. Thieman died at 4 a.m. of old age and complications. Mr. Thieman died at 8:40 a.m. of pneumonia contracted a couple of days previously.
Mrs. Thieman had been an invalid for years and had not been able to get to town for the past 10 years and had been confined to her bed since having a fall last December 21st. Mrs. Thieman was born near Marble Rock, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Carbiener, in 1861.
Mr. Thieman was past 90 years old, being born in Germany January 11, 1849, coming to this country in 1868, living two years in Wisconsin and coming to Iowa in 1870. Mr. and Mrs. Thieman were married January 16, 1879. Nine children were born to them, six of whom are living.
They are Arnold Thieman and Mrs. Anna Schietrumpf of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; and Ernest, clyde, Earl and Dora, now Mrs. George Ackley, all of Marble Rock. There are 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Thieman leaves one sister, Mrs. Louise Heise of Algona .
She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Mills of Marble Rock and Mrs. Sarah Schrabb of Phoenix. Arizona, and three brothers, Mike Carbiener of Long Beach, California, Fred Carbiener of Waterloo and William Carbiener at Charles City.Funeral Services were held at the house Monday at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Loren Inman of Marion. Burial was in the West Side Cemetery at Marble Rock.
