ROCKFORD, IOWA - Charles “Charlie” Dight, 75, of rural Rockford died Monday, June 1, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.

A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.

Charles "Charlie" Dight, 75, of rural Rockford, died Monday June 1, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service for Charlie Dight will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Wendy Johannesen from the Rudd United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.

Charles Howard Dight, the son of Howard and Edith (Bethell) Dight, was born September 23, 1939 in Charles City. He attended school in Charles City graduating from the Charles City High School in 1957.

Charlie was united in marriage to Jane Anderson on April 3, 1960 at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. The couple made their home in rural Rockford on a farm. They raised their family on the farm have remained there for their entire married life. Charlie loved farming his land, enjoyed feeding his yard full of cattle and taking trips out west to purchase cattle. He also raised hogs, but more so when his children got involved in 4-H.

Charlie was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church. He was also a past 4-H Leader, on the Rudd Coop Elevator Board serving as President and Secretary, Floyd County Cattlemen's Association, Floyd County Mutual Insurance where he still served as a Director, the FSA County Committee and the Ulster Township Committee.

Charlie loved spending time with his family, especially when his children and grandchildren were involved in 4-H, and when he could travel to Colorado to cheer for his grandchildren during their wrestling meets. He enjoyed watching sports on television in particular the Minnesota Twins and college basketball games.

Living family members include his wife of 55 years, Jane; two children: Debra (Jerry) Etzen of Parker, Colorado and Dennis Dight of Charles City; six grandchildren: Adam (Jessica), Andy and Alex Etzen, Danny, Holly (Jesse Bell) and Sammy Dight; two great-grandchildren: Ashton and Kinsley; three brothers: Robert (Marian) Dight of Charles City, Richard (Brenda) Dight of Rockford and Tom (Pam) Dight of Osage; three sisters-in-law: Alice Stewart of Charles City, Leah Platt of Boise, Idaho and Fae (Richard) Laird of Webster City; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Kyle Dight; and three brothers-in-law: Lee Stewart, Jerry Platt and Roger Anderson.
