Shirley Temple, 82, of Charles City, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Cedar Health in Charles City.

A funeral service for Shirley Temple will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Charles City. Pastor Ruth Yeaton will officiate. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Shirley (Brown) Temple was born July 11, 1932 in Floyd County, Iowa, the youngest child of Hugo and Hazel (Clark) Brown. She attended country school and graduated from Floyd Consolidated School in 1950.

Shirley married William Temple on January 18, 1951 at First Baptist Church. They both were baptized and became members of First Baptist Church on that day. This union was blessed with three children: Becky, Dale and Douglas. Shirley cooked at Charles City schools for 28 years and cooked part time at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and playing piano, especially for the residents at the care center.

Living family members include her two sons: Dale Temple of Floyd and Douglas (June) Temple of Charles City; grandchildren: Eric and Roberta Reams of Charles City, Nicole and Lucas Adams of Ontario, Canada, Laurie (David) Field of Waimanalo, Hawaii, Shannon Temple and Matthew Temple both of Charles City; five great-grandchildren: Hunter Adams, Madeline Adams, Matraca Adams, Elizabeth Oleson and Chloe Temple; sister, Bernadine Howe of Rockford; along with sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Edith (Wylam) Brown; husband, William Temple; daughter, Becky Reams; grandson, Lucas Reams; sister, Norma Birkholz; and two brothers: Eldon and Veryl.
