Antoinette "Toni" Hammond, 77, of Charles City died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Cedar Health in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Toni Hammond will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Reverend Gary Mayer will celebrate the funeral Mass. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at the church on Saturday.

Antoinette Eve Hammond, the daughter of Anthony and Frances (Kielczykowski) Majewski, was born November 9, 1937, in Dearborn, Michigan. She was raised and educated in Michigan. Toni attended college to prepare for her work as a dental hygienist prior to getting married. Toni was united in marriage to Ellery Hammond on August 8, 1959, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Michigan. The couple made their home in Massachusetts where they began raising their family.

Toni and Ellery moved to Marion where they continued to raise their family. She was a devoted homemaker and as "Mother Goose" enjoyed being a daycare provider for children in the neighborhood. In 1980, they moved to St. Francisville, Louisiana and to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1984. They lived in Harrisburg for 27 years before moving to Kansas City, Missouri in 2011. After Ellery passed away in 2012, Toni moved to Charles City.

Toni was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City and was an active member of the Catholic Church wherever she lived. She was a devout Catholic woman whose faith sustained her over the years. Toni enjoyed knitting and crocheting and her grandchildren were her greatest life joy.

Living family members include her four daughters: Fran (John) Bergren of Charles City, Michele Nielsen of Jenison, Michigan, Patrice (Steve) Hatfield of Grain Valley, Missouri and Margaret (Paul) Nye of Cedar Rapids; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with three on the way; brother, Peter (Helen) Maxwell of Newport Beach, California; along with her nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
