LeRoy Janssen, age 71, of Floyd, died Friday, April 3, 2015, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Public visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage. Following the visitation, cremation will take place with private family inurnment at a later date.

LeRoy was born November 28, 1943, on the family farm in Floyd County, Iowa, the son of Bernard and Alice (Jacobson) Janssen. He graduated from Floyd High School. On December 22, 1972, LeRoy married Carol Mayer. He farmed and worked construction, and then worked at Curries until his retirement.

LeRoy was a member of the Clydesdale Breeders of U.S.A. and the Farm Bureau. He loved going to auctions, collecting old toy tractors, his Clydesdale draft horses and cattle, and watching the baby livestock play around the farm. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Carol Janssen of Floyd; his son, John Janssen of Stewartville, Minnesota; his daughter, Michelle (Brian Swenson) Janssen of Stacyville; grandson, Jessie Gerdes; granddaughter, Cheyenne Cullen; sisters, Phyllis (Don) Solberg of Lanesboro, Minnesota, and Bernadine Poppens of Parkersburg; and sister-in-law, Nancy Janssen of Rudd.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fran Janssen; nephew, Gary Janssen; and brother-in-law, Bob Poppens.
