Henry Jacob Benz –July 20, 1875 – October 28, 1957

RITES PENDING FOR HENRY BENZ AT CHARGES CITY

Charles City, Iowa – Henry J. Benz, 82, a retired farmer, died Monday at the Cedar Valley Hospital where he had been a patient for one week. He had been in failing health about two and one-half years.

He moved from his farm home in St. Charles Township in 1940 to Charles City. He was a member of the Central Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Martha, and a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Ford, Tryon, North Caroline; and two sons, Claire and Forrest, both of Chicago, Illinois.

A sister, Mildred, died in 1922. A brother, A. B. Benz, Charles City, also survived. Funeral services are pending at the Hauser Funeral Home.

Found in the 1940 census living in Charles City, ward 2, with his wife Martha. Both were age 64.
