Alton Mervin Nelson was born November 9, 1930 at rural Rudd, Floyd, Iowa to Ervin Arthur Nelson and Mabel Lundene, the youngest of their four children.

Alton was baptized on December 21, 1930 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. His baptismal sponsors were: Mr & Mrs Elmer Larson; Obert Nelson and Alma Nelson.

Alton served in the US Navy.

Found in the 1940 census living at Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa: Ervin Nelson 41, Mabel Nelson 42, Ivery E Nelson 17, Doris J Nelson 13, Dorothy J Nelson 11, Alton M Nelson 9.

Alton married Josephine Osborne on June 21, 1957. The couple had 2 children, a girl and a boy. They divorced in May, 1970.

Alton M Nelson died April 26, 1980 at Los Angeles, California. Could not find his burial site.
