Mrs. George Obermier Dies in Iowa City

Alta S. Obermier, 59, widow of George Obermier and a resident of the Good Samaritan Home, died Thursday at the University Hospitals, Iowa City, following a long illness.

Mrs. Obermier was born Aug. 6, 1898, at Aberdeen, S.D., daughter of Frank and Clara (Cobb) Peck. She spent her childhood at Aberdeen.

She was married to George Obermier April 16, 1921, at Austin, Minn. They established their first home in North Dakota. In 1945 they moved to Charles City, where they lived until 1950 when they moved to Nora Springs. In 1952 they moved to the Good Samaritan Home, Mason City.

Mrs. Obermier was a member of the Salvation Army.

Surviving are a daughter, Miss Myrna Obermier, Mason City; two sons, Rex Obermier, Omaha, and Robert Obermier, Osage, and her mother, Clara Peck, Columbia, S.D.

Five brothers, Wesley Peck, Pillager, Minn.; Lesley Peck, Columbia, S.D.; Elwin Peck, Portland, Ore.; Fred Peck, Nebish, Minn., and Elmer Pec, Bath, S.D., and three sisters, Edith Bruns, Kaukauna, Wis.; Mrs. Walter Backous, Walla Walla, Wash., and Mrs. Dale Broadbent, West Port, S.D., also survive. She was preceded in death by her father, husband in 1954 and son Frank, in 1932.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Salvation Army Citadel. Capt. Robert Stigleman will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.
