Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2014; New Life Assembly of God, Charles City, Iowa.

Michael "Zip" Zimmer, 67, of Colwell, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Michael Zimmer will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at New Life Assembly of God in Charles City. Pastor Michael Downey will officiate. Burial will be in Beckwith Cemetery at Colwell.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Friday.

Michael Harold Zimmer was born January 16, 1947, at Charles City, the son of Harold and Verna (Haight) Zimmer. He received his education from Colwell Consolidated School. On June 2, 1990, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Lechtenberg.

For many years Michael was employed at the Colwell elevator. He was a volunteer fireman with the Colwell Fire Department. His interests included playing drums, fishing and watching his favorite Minnesota Vikings. Michael will be remembered as being a great jokester.

Living family members include his wife, Rosemary Zimmer of Colwell; daughter, Christa Hansen of Hudson; grandchildren, Sakatah and Dakotah Hansen; great grandson, Nathaniel Hansen; and sisters, Glenda Zimmer and Sharon (Neal) Reetz both of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
