SMITH'S FUNERAL RITES THURSDAY IN MARBLE ROCK

Couple Fatally Injured in Automobile Wreck Near That Town Sunday

Marble Rock, Ia., Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. William C. Smith, Marble Rock residents who died as result of injuries suffered Sunday evening when their automobile was wrecked a few miles from Marble Rock, will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at their home here.

The accident happened three and one-half miles east of Marble Rock, when they were returning from Cedar Rapids after a visit at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Edward Victorine. It is presumed the machine struck loose gravel while being operated at high speed. They were taken to Cedar Valley hospital at Charles City, where Mrs. Smith died at 1 a.m. Monday and Mr. Smith at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Smith formerly was Edith Asper of this place. Besides the daughter, there survive three grandchildren. Mrs. Smith is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Guy Lawrence, Marble Rock; Mrs. James Hutches, Chicago, and Mrs. E.E. Hawkins, Hollywood, Cal.

Surviving Mr. Smith are two brothers and three sisters: Newton Smith, Mrs. L. H. Sours, Iowa Falls; L.M. Smith, Long Beach, Cal.; Mrs. W.W. Withee, Parker, S.D.; Mrs. E.E. Paterson, Minneapolis.
