SERVICES ON LAST FRIDAY
FOR EDITH LOCKWOOD, AGE 70

Funeral services for Edith Lockwood were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Hann Funeral Home, Rev. James Kimbrell officiating. Burial rites were held in Pleasant Grove cemetery.

Edith M. Lockwood was born on October 20, 1879, in Pleasant Grove township, Floyd county, and passed away on April 26 in Des Moines where she lived with her two sisters. She was the daughter of Jackson and Mary Lockwood.

She moved to Greene with her parents at an early age and attended school and graduating from the Greene high school. She began teaching immediately in the rural schools of Butler county and later taught several years in the Greene schools. She then went to Des Moines where she taught five years in the Bird school and the remainder of her teaching was in the Perkins school.

She received her education in the Iowa State Teachers college at Cedar Falls and in Drake U.

She is survived by her two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Barr and Martha Lockwood of Des Moines, a niece and a nephew.
