Alvin Elmer Uetz, the son of Elmer and Irene (Hermann) Uetz, was born June 24, 1938, in Charles City. He was raised and educated in Charles City graduating from Charles City High School in 1956. Alvin joined the Air Force right after high school and proudly served his country for four years. Once he was honorably discharged, he worked at Trowbridge's until 1962 and then began working at White Farm until its closing in 1993.

Alvin was united in marriage to Sharon Kruse on May 29, 1965 at Central Methodist Church in Charles City. The couple made their home in Charles City where they raised their family. When White Farm closed, Alvin started his own company, Al's Mfg., which he owned and operated until his death. He also began farming for the next 42 years on land owned by Sharon's family. The first time he went to the farm he was a city boy, but he left a country boy loving to farm.

Alvin was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Am Vets. He was very instrumental in getting the Winnebago chassis to come to Charles City and was proud of this accomplishment. Alvin was always willing and ready to help with planting, harvesting or whatever else anyone might need whether it was farm related or not. He enjoyed camping, boating, working with old cars and riding in the 4th of July parade, but he loved spending time with his family the most, especially his grandchildren who were his world.

Living family members include his wife of 49 years Sharon of Charles City; two daughters: Julie (Kevin) Endelman of Charles City and Jill Uetz of Charles City; daughter-in-law Lisa (Randy Moore) Broek; three grandchildren: Levi Endelman, Max Uetz and Austin Uetz; two "adopted" grandchildren: Brooke (Josh) Hamm and their sons Evan and Gavin and Cody (Jaclyn) VanHorn and their daughter Jadyn; "adopted" son Brian (Shawna) Ross and their daughter Kennedy; sister Sharon (Bill) Wiltse; brother Ernie (Sara) Uetz; along with special nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Alan Uetz; daughter Stacie Lynn Uetz; and sister Dorothy Moorehead.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to charity of choice.
