Charles City Farmer Succumbs at Hospital

Charles City - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hauser funeral home for Henry W. Steiner, 74, retired farmer of near Charles City, who died Tuesday morning at the Cedar Valley hospital where he had been a patient since Thursday last week. He had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage Wednesday. The Rev. J. Ellis Webb, pastor of the St. Charles Methodist church will officiate and burial will be in the St. Charles church cemetery.

Born March 27, 1876, in Washington county near Wellman, Mr. Steiner was a son of William and Maria Schmidt Steiner. On Dec. 25, 1906, he was married to the former Effie Oldfield, near Wellman. They moved to this area 37 years ago. They lived 4 1/2 miles southwest of Charles City. Mr. Steiner was a member of the St. Charles Methodist church.

Survivors include the widow, two sisters, Mrs. Melvin Whetstine and Mrs. Martha Mayer and two brothers, Dan and Charles Steiner, all of near Wellman. One brother, John Steiner, and a step-daughter, Blanche, preceded him in death.
