Death: May 7, 2014Joseph "Joe" Jacobs, 88, of Charles City, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
No services are being planned at this time.
Joseph Edward Jacobs was born August 28, 1925, at Ft. Atkinson, the son of Frank and Frances (Kruse) Jacobs. He received his education at Saint Lucas. On November 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Fern Kapping. Joe worked as a mechanic, farmed, installed TV Antennas, and was a trucker for 30 years. He liked spending time outdoors, mowing lawn, watching pro wrestling, working on vehicles, going for rides and visiting with family and friends. Joe took great pride in his accomplishment and award for having no accidents while truck driving. Family was very important to him and he looked forward to spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.
Living family members include three children: Michael (Jan Wilson) Jacobs, Ruth (Gene) Diercks, and Penny (Mark) Adams all of Charles City; seven grandchildren: Kim (Jon) Jensen, Kris Jacobs, Aaron Jacobs, Lacey Jacobs, Mariah (Scott) Black, Rika Cummings and Roger Mathers; six great-grandchildren; and three nephews and a niece that they helped to raise: Charles (Marge) Shindelar, Charlene (Tom) Ahren, Edward Shindelar and Edgar Shindelar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on October 17, 2002; a son, John Jacobs; a daughter, Arlene Hayner; two brothers, Leo and George Jacobs; and a sister, Edna Shindelar.
