Jack Wolcott

Jack Wolcott, 78, of Floyd, died Friday, April 18, 2014, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, April 25, at Grace United Methodist Church, 701 First Avenue, Floyd, Iowa. Pastor Martha Bennett will be officiating.

Jack Wolcott, 78, Floyd

Jack Wolcott, of Floyd, Iowa, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home on April 18, 2014 at the age of 78.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday April 25, 2014 at the Grace United Methodist Church 701 First Avenue Floyd, Iowa. Pastor Martha Bennett will officiate. Per Jack’s wishes his body was donated to Mayo Hospital to help further education and medical research.

Jack was an avid runner who ran with his close friend Bob Baron, and traveled as far as Egypt to compete in a marathon with his daughter, Christie. He also enjoyed hunting with his sons, Jack and Art, and walking with his dog, Lady. He and Edna enjoyed many years of motorcycle trips with friends. Jack was a respected member of the community, who served as a board member and a volunteer fireman for the town of Floyd.

Jack worked for White Farm for twenty-six years and Fort Dodge Animal Health for eight. During his retirement, he drove the school bus for Charles City Community Schools for thirteen years. Recently, Jack and Edna spent their summers with their daughter, son, and grandchildren in North Carolina enjoying time on the beach.

Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lois, Jack is survived by his wife, Edna; his daughter, Christine (husband, Mark); his sons, Jack and Art; two brothers, James and Jerry; his sister, Judy; five grandchildren, Hannah, Wyatt, Kristle, Mallorie and Chazz; and three great grandchildren.

A special thanks to Hospice of New Hampton, Ed and Connie Hejna, Renee and Pat Burdett, and many special friends for their loving care and respect.
