Mrs. Mary Frances Lotz, 75, resident of Floyd Township for the last eight years, died in Cedar Valley Hospital here following a stroke suffered four days ago. She had been a patient at the hospital one day.

Her husband preceded her in death. She leaves one son, Grover C., of Floyd; two daughters, Mrs. Henry F. Claussen, of Gilmore City; Mrs. Ray Richardson, of Audubon; a sister Mrs. Otto Schnug, of Gilmore City; one brother, Fred D. Krug, Hollywood, California, 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; funeral at 1:30 p. m. at the Floyd Methodist church. Burial will be in the cemetery at Floyd,

Mary F. Lotz, daughter of Samuel and Nancy King, was born in Jasper County near Reasoner, Iowa, June 2, 1868, and passed away at the Cedar County Hospital in Charles City, January 23, 1944, at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 21 days.

At eight years of age she moved with her parents to Galesberg, Iowa where she lived until united in marriage with John F. Lotz on April 2, 1891, and moved to Pocahontas County. She resided in Pocahontas County until 1930 when she moved to Mitchell County and later to Floyd County living with her son.

She is survived by her son Grover C. Lotz of Floyd, Iowa; and two daughters. Mrs. Henry F. Claussen of Gilmore City, Iowa; and Mrs. Roy J. Richardson of Audubon, Iowa. Also a sister, Mrs. Etta Schmug of Gilmore City, Iowa, and a brother Fred King of Hollywood, California; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Her father, mother, three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

When a young girl, Mrs. Lotz united with the Methodist Church at Galesberg, Iowa and in this faith she remained until her death.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Floyd, Iowa at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Fletcher of Floyd officiating. Three hymns "The Old Rugged Cross", "The Home Of The Soul", and "Rock Of Ages" were sung by Mrs. J. Lindsay with Mrs. C. E. Tubbs Accompanist.

Pallbearers were: Theodore Stonecypher, William Stonecypher, Hugh Chestnut, Herman Tjaden, Frank Tjaden and John Miles.

Final resting place was at the Oakwood Cemetery.
