CHARLES CITY, IOWA - William E. Elliott, 87, of Satellite Beach, Florida, and formerly of Charles City, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Wuesthoff Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.

#2:CHARLES CITY, IOWA - William E. “Bill” Elliott, 87, of Satellite Beach, Florida, formerly of Charles City, died of natural causes on March 15, 2014, at the Wuesthoff Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City, with Pastor Forrest Cornelius from First Congregational Church, Charles City, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 28, at Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Bill attended Colwell grade and high school, served in World War II in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion, Disabled Veterans, 32nd degree Mason and Shriners. He was a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa. Following graduation, he taught and coached high school for three years in Riceville.
Bill started the State Farm Insurance Agency in Charles City in 1952 as agent. Later he was promoted to agency manager and agency director for 41 years. This agency is continued by Tom Rouse, nephew.
Bill was an ardent hunter, fisherman, golfer and tennis player.
When Bill was nine-years-old he was adopted by Tom and Minnie Elliott of Colwell, his relatives. He had two foster brothers, Lawrence “Bud” Elliott and Henry Elliott of Colwell, and foster sister Maxine Rouse, Charles City, all of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his ex-wife, Doris Shiflet Elliott.
Bill is survived by wife Patsy Elliott of Satellite Beach, Florida; son Dr. Craig Elliott and Peggy, of North Muskegon, Mich., daughter Denise Elliott and William Whitney of Durango, Colo., stepdaughter Angela and Scott Kurkian of Atlanta, Ga.; and stepson Roger Hewitt of Dalton, Ga.; grandchildren Marcus Elliott and Taylor Elliott of Durango, Colo., and Chase Elliott of Chicago Ill., and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
