Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Red's name to the Rudd United Methodist Church.

Eugene E. LaCoste was born on January 8, 1921 in Rudd, the son of George and Marjorie (Schuster) LaCoste. He attended Rudd Consolidated Schools before enlisting in United States Army. Red faithfully served his country during World War II until his receiving his honorable discharge from service, which then led him back to Iowa.

On June 20, 1948 he was united in marriage to Blanche Robertson in Rudd; together they would be blessed with their two sons, Ronald and Danny.

For 28 years Red worked as a Chemical Operator for Salsbury Lab in Charles City, until his retirement in 1982.

Having grown up on the farm, Red never lost his love of the land. In earlier years he could be found enjoying an afternoon bicycle ride, tinkering with his various gizmos and gadgets, or adding to his collection of electric train sets. He always loved purchasing a new car and looked forward to trading in for the next model every couple of years.

In recent years Red spent his days enjoying the company of his neighbors and the staff of the Chautauqua Guest Home, or taking a leisurely drive to admire the countryside.

As a lifelong resident of Floyd county, Red had deep ties with his neighbors and friends in Rudd and was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church. He loved living in "small town Iowa".
Those grateful for sharing in his life are his son, Ronald LaCoste; and his many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Blanche; son, Danny Lee LaCoste; brothers, Edwin George LaCoste, Harold William LaCoste, Herbert Fred LaCoste, and Keith Daro LaCoste; as well as a sister in infancy, Ruth Alma LaCoste.
