Ethel Bledsoe was born on February 2, 1916, in rural Charles City to William and Daisy Krumrey. She grew up in a family with 10 children being the third oldest and the oldest of all the girls.

Ethel helped take care of her siblings. She attended school through the 10th grade. Ethel met her soon-to-be-husband through farming. They were united in marriage in Osage, Iowa. To this union two children were born. Ethel spent most of her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed the time outdoors doing yard work and gardening her flowers and vegetables.

Ethel was a fantastic cook. She loved cooking for her family, especially at big family gatherings out on the farm. She made the best piecrust and various other goodies and meals. Ethel spent a lot of time volunteering at St. John Lutheran Church and being a Ladies Aid Member. She also belonged to a Cowell Ladies card group and Cowell social group. When the grandchildren were born she really liked babysitting them; she was always there for her grandchildren. Ethel will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, and grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Bill (Sharon) Bledsoe and Norma Jaeger, both of Charles City; a sister, Avis Nelson of Waterloo; grandchildren: Judy (Clifford) Kelly, Janet (Dennis) Petefish, Brian (Penny) Jaeger, David Bledsoe, Suzanne (James) Banks, Gwen Niska, and Jane (Roy) Kelly; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Orith, parents, six brothers, two sisters, son-in-law Rodger Jaeger, and daughter-in-law Marlys Bledsoe.
