MABLE MILLER RITES
HELD AT CLEAR LAKE

Funeral services for a former Bassett resident, Mable Miller of Clear Lake, were held Saturday at Clear Lake with burial in the Clear Lake Cemetery. She died Thursday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rex Rule of Clear Lake.

Mable Orlena Miller was born December 12, 1875, at Bassett, the daughter of Martin and Fannie Ashley Beard. She attended the Bassett school and was married in Charles City on June 24, 1896, to William Miller. The couple lived in Chicago until 1902 and then returned to a farm near Bassett.

In 191?* they moved to Clear Lake, where Miller operated a bulk oil truck. He preceded his wife, in death in 1935. Mrs. Miller then moved to Charles City to care for her mother. She returned to Clear Lake eight years ago to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Rule.

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Rex (Lillie) Rule. Mrs. Earl (Gertrude) Kimball, both of Clear Lake, and Mrs. Norman (Beatrice) Flater of Floyd; seven grand-children and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, William M. Miller, in 1946, and three brothers: Bert, Ray and Jim Beard.
