Patricia M. McGregor, 86, of Nashua died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at the United Methodist Church with Okitakoyi Lundula, pastor, officiating. Ruth Bierschenk will be the organist for the service with Tracy McGregor and Brendan Mc-Gregor as musicians.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Christopher McGregor, James McGregor, Patrick McGregor, Andrew Schroeder, Brett O’Loughlin, Brendan McGregor, and Chet McGregor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ronald and Grace McGregor, Arnold and Ann Peterson, Vearl and Mary Edson, Lynn and Rose Mary Edson, and Virgil Edson.
Friends may greet the family 4-8 p.m. Friday Jan. 3, 2014, at the Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home – Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Online condolences for Patricia’s family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com.
Patricia Mary McGregor was born December 11, 1927, in rural Riverton Township, the daughter of Arthur and Edith (Henderson) Tefft. She attended grade school at rural Riverton No. 7 country school and was a graduate of Nashua High School in 1945. After graduation, Patricia attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and completed her teaching certificate. She taught third grade in Ackley for two years.
On June 5, 1949, Patricia was united in marriage to Malcolm (Mac) McGregor at the United Methodist Church in Nashua. To this union six children were born; David, Mary, Alan, Evelyn, Karen and Scott. Patricia was a devoted mother and grandmother.
In her later years, she loved watching the Cubs. Patricia enjoyed traveling, especially the mountains. She enjoyed playing 500, most recently with a group at Cedar Vale in Nashua. Patricia always kept up with current events, as she always was reading the newspaper. She liked going for drives and checking up on the crops and livestock. Patricia had a great love for baking, which was passed down through the generations. She had a love of roses, African violets and birds. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events.
Patricia was a member of the Chickasaw County Historical Museum, Nashua United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, Hogan Study Club, Nashua Woman’s Club, P.E.O. Chapter EN, Eastern Star and the Iowa Mother’s Association. She served as a leader of the Golden Maples 4-H Club and as a volunteer at the Nashua Area Food Pantry. She was a charter member of the Chickasaw County Cattlewomen and was also a member of Iowa/National Cattlewomen.
Patricia resided the last two years at Cedar Vale Assisted Living in Nashua, and recently at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.
Patricia is survived by her children, Scott (Tracy) McGregor of Nashua, Karen McGregor of Des Moines, Evelyn (Jim) O’Loughlin of Adel, Alan (Cathy) McGregor of Charles City, Mary (Mark) Schroeder of Odebolt, and David (Barbara) McGregor of Nashua; grandchildren, Chet McGregor of Nashua, Brendan McGregor of West Des Moines, Kelcie O’Loughlin of Clive, Brett (Mandi) O’Loughlin of Eldora, Christopher (Nora) McGregor of Forest City, James (Melissa) McGregor of Quantico, Va., Patrick McGregor of Nashua, Angela (Doug) Oest of Elmhurst, Ill., Andrew Schroeder of West Des Moines, Amy (Ash) Kading of Casey, and Sarah McGregor of Waverly; great-grandchildren, Ayden and Jacob McGregor of Quantico, Va., Benjamin Oest of Elmhurst, Ill., and Hope, Paul, and Luke Kading of Casey. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and a host of close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Edith Tefft; husband Malcolm (Mac) in 1999 and brother James Tefft.
