Death of John Zimmer

Funeral services were held this afternoon at two o'clock from the Central Methodist Episcopal Church for John Zimmer, 106 Sixth Avenue who died Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Klaus officiated. Interment was made at Beckwith Cemetery.

John Zimmer was born in Staten, Germany on August 30, 1836. He came to the United States and settled in Berrien County, Michigan. After a short time he came west to Floyd County, Iowa. In 1860 he retired from his farm and moved to Charles City where he lived until his death. He died on Sunday afternoon, at the advanced age of eighty years, eleven months.

John Zimmer was married in 1860 to Katharine Eider. To this union twelve children were born, one died in infancy.
