James F. Haskovec, 63, of Charles City died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua with Pastor Okitakoyi Lundula presiding. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Brad Bilharz, Kara Graham, Jose Carrizales, Joan Graham, Bob Graham and Les Graham serving as pallbearers. The U.S. flag will be presented by the Nashua V.F.W. Post.

Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the services at church on Monday.

Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua is in charge of arrangements.

James F. Haskovec was born March 5, 1950, in New Hampton, the son of LaVern and Jean (Robinson) Haskovec. At an early age the family moved to Cedar Falls where Jim received his education and later graduated from the Parkersburg High School. On Dec. 1, 1968, he entered the United States Marine Corp. and was honorably discharged on April 7, 1970. On June 12, 1982, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, he married Sharon Graham. The couple lived and worked in North Carolina and Texas until moving back to Iowa in 1988. They lived in several Iowa communities until making Charles City their home in 2003. In his free time, Jim enjoyed time on his motorcycle, fishing, collecting cast-iron toys, camping and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Charles City; three children, Tonya Hightower, Sheree Harper and Brian Haskovec; a stepson, Brad (Pam) Powers of Waverly; his mother-in-law, Dolores Graham of Nashua; one brother, David (Bonnie) Haskovec of Marshallburg, N.C.; two sisters, Eunice Richmond and Margaret (Roger) Harper all of Beaufort, N.C.; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Bob Graham.
