ANNA E. MARTH DIES AT 74; RITES FRIDAY

CHARLES CITY-- Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church, for Anna Elizabeth Marth, 74. She died Wednesday afternoon, Aug 13, at the Charles City rest home where she had been since Aug. 4. Death was attributed to a diabetic condition. She had lived in Charles City since 1940. Paul Bachmann, student pastor, officiated, and burial was in Riverside Cemetery with the Grossmann Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Born in Herlefeld, Germany, October 21, 1883, she was the daughter of Elizabeth and George Herwig. She received her education in Germany. March 9, 1910, in Charles City, she was married to John Marth. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany and was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Charles City and an honorary member of the St. John Lutheran Ladies Aid.

Survivors include one son, Otto Marth, rural Charles City; seven grandchildren, two brothers, Henry and Konrad Herwig, and one sister, Anneliese Bolescheck, all in Germany. She was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, one son, Alvin in 1948, and her husband in 1950.
